About
Victoria Louise Morrison Laing
My Paintings and illustrations are a consequence
of being actively encouraged to experiment with different concepts
of art. Through four years excellent tuition at Duncan of Jordanstone
College of art and design I gradually found my illustrative style.
During this time I was introduced to the skill of
Linoleum cutting, a versatile expertise that enabled many of my
designs to come to life. Many of my illustrations have been produced
through experimenting with colour, texture and pattern using a combination
of lino printing and painting.
I am strongly influenced by the natural scenery
that surrounds me and draw inspiration from the effects of weather
and seasonal changes; I try to use these influences to create the
desired mood in all of my work.
I believe that colour and images and experience that we experience
as children dictate our likes and desires that will last us a life
time, that’s why I feel that colour and atmosphere are fundamentally
important to my work especially where I am trying to create magical
and ethereal quality.
My work and style are ever changing as my influences
change, I continue to be inspired by the innocence of children’s
minds and how magic can be created and allowed to grow a little
more each time the paining is viewed.
All of my work whether landscape painting, seascape or illustration
takes ordinary scenes, people , animals and nature and I add the
magic I see in these ordinary scenes.
All of my work is available for sale and I am always
more than happy to accept commissions to the client’s exact
specifications. Please do not hesitate to contact me regarding any
of my work.
